Students from the University of Benin had recently invented an automobile by name “tuke tuke” which according to reports did pass international technical evaluation in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
In a statement signed by the Media Manager of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC), Mr Precious Okolobo it was disclosed that the automobile 'tuke tuke' will race alongside other cars from 25 different countries in the 2014 Eco Marathon in the Netherlands.
The SPDC Joint Venture (JV) is sponsoring University of Benin and University of Lagos to the marathon which will hold from May 15 to May 18.
Reports reaching us says that the car built by students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) is still undergoing thorough technical evaluation and its results would be announced on Friday.
The main objective of the Shell Eco-marathon was to challenge students from around the world to design,build and race fuel-efficient vehicles, the winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least amount of energy.
